A Conversation with Governor Josh Shapiro: 'Where We Keep the Light: Stories from a Life of Service'
Description
The Jefferson Educational Society (JES), the Erie, Pennsylvania-based nonpartisan think tank that promotes civic engagement and education, will welcome Josh Shapiro, the 48th Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, for a special public program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 31 at the JES, located at 3207 State Street, Erie, PA 16508. The evening will feature a conversation centered on Gov. Shapiro's New York Times bestselling book, "Where We Keep the Light: Stories from a Life of Service," followed by a book sale.
Of "Where We Keep the Light," the New York Times' Katie Glueck writes, "Shapiro blends discussion of faith, fatherhood, and marriage with political talk, stories from his career, and accounts of how he experienced major recent events." The latter includes the 2025 arson attack on the governor's residence.
Raised in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, Shapiro served a state representative from 2005 to 2011, as the chair of Montgomery County's Board of Commissioners from 2012 to 2017, and the state's attorney general from 2017 to 2023. In 2022, Shapiro was elected the 48th governor of Pennsylvania, and has served in that post since 2023.
